Ladysmith Black Mambazo Ro Themba Vhone: “Maduvha”

The 2026 lineup of South Africa’s most acclaimed acapella ensemble is keen to collaborate. This rousing anthem with pop and gospel singer Themba Vhone takes the music to its spiritual roots. It opens with the familiar, silky Zulu harmonies then shifts to full on piano gospel with Vhone stepping into the spotlight with the best backup singers you’re likely to find anywhere.

Fatoumata Diawara: “Sigui”

Malian singer/songwriter Fatoumata Diawara has cut her own path, drawing on her Bamana roots, but always with a worldly perspective. Fatoumata is a guitar-slinging citizen of the world, and this track from her 2026 album, Massa (Out June 5), has it her trademarks, blending languages, pop-music polish with ancient melodies and revealing many sides of her powerful, versatile voice.

Here, Spok joins forces with a giant of funky Brazilian rock, Lenine. Together, they make a journey from Afro-Brazilian percussive roots to head-banging thrash rock, and back.

Seu Jorge: “Girl You Move Me”

One of Brazil’s most distinctive singer/songwriters is out with a subtly brilliant new album, The Other Side. This abstract performance video is built around an ochestral trance-blues number, showcasing Jorge smokey baritone voice. The man is aging, but oh so gracefully!

The coming together of the electro-cumbia eccentricity of Meridian Brothers with the Mexican Institute of Sound and Beck was bound to create something surprising and quirky. This groovy track and zany, dystopian futuristic animated video do not disappoint. Man and nature vs the machine! And the machine loses…
